January 1, 1970 and your iPhone.

Four words: Do not do it.

See:

Why the 1970 Bug Bricks Your iPhone

An interesting variation on this to experiment with would be to go back to the 1960s, insert some calendar entries and watch what happens, but I'll leave that for you in the "willing to sacrifice my smartphone for the sake of science" crowd to try that out and report on.

Brings back a couple of incidents where back in the days of Meeting Maker migrations one of the characteristics of bad data was pre-computer era dates (like the 1940s) in corrupted calendar entries. So figuring that we ignored any dates before 1990 if we got them in a Meeting Maker server.

Then one day we found a site with a user who actually ENTERED DATA BACK TO THE 1950s!  Mainly birthdays.

iPhone Alarm Glitch Greets New Year

The title says it all, though the New York Times has some more information.
Apple of course offers no explanation because as all Apple employees know, Apple can do no possible wrong.
